Day in the Life
A Day in the Life of Chloe
question & answer
Q: What sites and/or applications do you visit most often?
A: As a 20 year old college student just starting school, I feel the only acceptable answer to this question is Instagram, Snapchat, and Tik Tok. Yes, yes, basic of course. What else would I do this summer with the weather being so indecisive! I use Instagram to make story posts of the few exciting things I've done this summer. Also, to look at all my friends adventures they've gone on this summer! Snapchat is of course to send silly faces to close friends. That's what we all use it for... right? I feel this one has an obvious reason as well. Tik Tok is used to send my boyfriend a bunch of videos that he will never look at, but of course tell me "of course I watched all the videos you sent me today!".
Q: Do you have positive or negative reactions when using certain types of digital media?
A: Since I am not a popular influencer, or a Kardashian, I don't get many reactions that aren't from my family on Facebook. The most common reactions I get are the "heart" option on Facebook from my aunt when I change my profile picture.
Okay I'll be serious now. I used to get negative reactions on social media in high school. Everyone had their own friend group, and it was likely if you weren't in a certain group, you were getting made fun of by them. Thankfully, most of us have matured over the years. I don't think I get negative reactions anymore when I make an Instagram post or a Snapchat story. Thankfully, all reactions that I am aware of are positive.
Q: Do you find that your needs are satisfied using one type of digital media over another?
A: I find myself using Instagram much more than Snapchat. I believe Snapchat is becoming more and more pointless for me. I have lost interest in the idea of it, and see it as more as a waste of time for me to open and reply to a snapchat question. that could've been a text. I favor Instagram, over Snapchat because you can create a feed and make it aesthetically pleasing, you can create a story with fun stickers and doodles, and you can tag places/recommend places to others. This platform has become more corresponding to my personal brand. Down the road, I see myself deleting Snapchat.
Q: Do you receive emails from companies? If so, what types of email catch your attention? What do you look for?
A: I do not receive emails from companies at the moment because I only have personal social media accounts and I am not really "branding" or "promoting" myself. Down the road, I see myself creating a platform about being an educator, or one day opening a small business online. When this happens, hopefully I will receive emails from brands that are hoping to work with me! When this does happen, brands that correspond with my brand will catch my eye.
Q: What do you notice about the use of digital media in marketing today?
A: I have noticed that not everything is what you see through the screen. Social media is extremely deceiving and creators are not the same person on and off the screen. This takes a toll on everyone else scrolling though their feed. Many people begin to feel like they should look like that, but in reality its all angles, photoshop, and plastic surgery. I wish everyone would be themselves, because not everyone walks around looking like the cover of a magazine.
